IBM gets orders worth $83 million from Digicable
Indian cable and broadband distribution firm Digicable and US-based IT giant IBM today signed a deal worth $83 million under which IBM would outsource its services for providing support for the integration of the Indian firm's digital media content delivery and value-added services.
The 10 year deal would also help to strengthen the position of Digicable by supporting its interactive TV and Internet services on TV of the firm, having more than 8 million subscribers in 70 Indian cities.
Computing Power to increase by 10 times by Eco-friendly 3D microchips
IBM Research Lab and Switzerland based EPFL and ETH Zurich have been jointly working on the development of eco-friendly microchip, which is supposed to help in enhancing the computing power by many times. This technology is expected to boost the computing power of the processors up to 10 times, that too without using much amount of energy.
IBM commences Centers of Excellence in ten colleges in Karnataka
IBM has announced that the company has established Centers of Excellence in 10 colleges in Karnataka with an object to prepare 'industry-ready' engineers and creating a platform for the development of software skills among the students.
The company has informed through a statement that these centers are meant to provide an opportunity for the students to learn new skill sets on IBM software products - DB2, WebSphere, Lotus, Rational and Tivoli and help them to develop business solutions.

A recent research by IBM has revealed that Indian Chief Information Officers are more progressive in the World and are more dedicated for expanding the business of their organization. The study is based on a survey of 100 Indian CIOs out of which 70 percent are blending technology and business to bring about innovations in the organization.
IBM launches new network analysis technologies
IBM, global major in providing software solutions, has launched two new network analysis technologies named as Social Network Analysis (SNA) technology and IBM Customer Analyst technology.
The SNA technology will allow the telecom service providers to have a complete analysis of the pattern in which services are being used by the customers. It is developed by the scientists in IBM research lab in India.
IBM Opens Service Management Center of Excellence in India
IBM has announced to open its service management Center of Excellence (CoE) in Pune. Pune is selected for the center due to its proximity to IBM Tivoli service management software and strategy. The centre will act as central hub for IBM Tivoli and focus will be given to growing areas of telecom, security, automation, and asset management.

Bharti Airtel, IBM Signs $150 Mn Deal
Telecom service provider, Bharti Airtel has signed up a $150 million six-year contract with global IT major IBM for implementation of IT systems in order to launch differentiated services in various segments including broadband, media, IPTV and DTH. Under the deal, IBM will offer up its global expertness in areas including the telemedia business, distribution, enterprise segments and business resilience. Bharti Airtel Ltd, on January 03, 2008, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VeriSign, Inc., the leading supplier of Internet infrastructure for the networked world.
