Quippo-WTTIL signs IMS deal with IBM
It has been informed that Quippo-WTTIL has signed a Managed Services (IMS) agreement with IBM. Quippo-WTTIL is one of the leading telecom Infrastructure Company with operations in various part of the world.
The deal is for next five years and it's going to be a multi-million dollar agreement.
IBM to purchase Coremetrics
IT Company, IBM has said that it is planning to buyout Coremetrics, which is into the business of providing Web analytics software.
It is not yet clear whether Coremetrics has accepted the offer and what then are the terms of the deal that has been put in front of it.
But people close to the deal said that IBM will be including Coremetrics in its business portfolio and will thus make its position strong in the business of making software for business analytics.
IBM systems to become more pre configured
IBM has hinted that its systems will become more preconfigured with its own software and hardware with the launch of its new server products.
The server products are meant for clients dealing in data analytics and transaction processing. The launch is an indication that the company wants to sell systems with its own hardware and software configured for specific usages. IBM is now expected to come out with more configured version of its tools relating to business process applications.
IBM to Launch Worldwide Scheme for Start-Ups
It has been reported that today, information technology and consulting multinational IBM set off its Global Initiative for start-ups.
This was aimed at helping them capture budding industry chances in fast developing industries like utilities and energy, telecommunications, health care and Government.
James M. Corgel, General Manager, IBM ISV and Developer relations, said the scheme offers start-ups free access to particular industry technologies in cloud computing situation.
IBM and Simmtronics to launch Netbook with cloud connectivity
PC major, IBM and Simmtronics along with Canonical have announced the launch of a netbook with cloud connectivity.
The notebook will first be available in South Africa and it will also be launched in the emerging markets like including India, Thailand and Vietnam. The netbook will also include IBM Client for Smart Work that offers Lotus Symphony and IBM LotusLive cloud service.
IBM to Mark Develothon 2010
IBM has today announced that it is going to mark Develothon 2010, which is a programme aimed at assisting the software developers in India in develop skills in newer technological fields.
The company is planning to organize a 27-city road show in collaboration with its developerWorks forum. The forum is credited for its coverage of skills and software evangelization. More than 18,000 IT professionals were skilled in 2009 under it.
IBM gets orders worth $83 million from Digicable
Indian cable and broadband distribution firm Digicable and US-based IT giant IBM today signed a deal worth $83 million under which IBM would outsource its services for providing support for the integration of the Indian firm's digital media content delivery and value-added services.
The 10 year deal would also help to strengthen the position of Digicable by supporting its interactive TV and Internet services on TV of the firm, having more than 8 million subscribers in 70 Indian cities.
Computing Power to increase by 10 times by Eco-friendly 3D microchips
IBM Research Lab and Switzerland based EPFL and ETH Zurich have been jointly working on the development of eco-friendly microchip, which is supposed to help in enhancing the computing power by many times. This technology is expected to boost the computing power of the processors up to 10 times, that too without using much amount of energy.
IBM commences Centers of Excellence in ten colleges in Karnataka
IBM has announced that the company has established Centers of Excellence in 10 colleges in Karnataka with an object to prepare 'industry-ready' engineers and creating a platform for the development of software skills among the students.
The company has informed through a statement that these centers are meant to provide an opportunity for the students to learn new skill sets on IBM software products - DB2, WebSphere, Lotus, Rational and Tivoli and help them to develop business solutions.
IBM Study Gives full marks to Indian CIOs for adopting IT
A recent research by IBM has revealed that Indian Chief Information Officers are more progressive in the World and are more dedicated for expanding the business of their organization. The study is based on a survey of 100 Indian CIOs out of which 70 percent are blending technology and business to bring about innovations in the organization.
