Sunny weather boosts John Lewis’s sales as it posts profits

John Lewis’s stores posted a rise of 15.9 percent in sales after the weather became better and sunny.

The sales figures at Waitrose posted the highest increase of 12.1 percent. It was followed by the department stores in Edinburgh which showed an increase of 5.3 percent, while the ones in Glasgow were up by 5 percent. John Lewis Store

Waitrose is the supermarket chain of the John Lewis which is totally employee-owned.

However, one of two branches in Aberdeen posted a loss. It went down by 0.6 percent.

The figures mentioned are for the last week ending March 6.

Besides the weather, it was the Mother’s Day shopping that helped push the sales figures up. And that is the reason why most of the shopping was done in the fashion and home departments said the company.

This is a boost to the retailer which has posted profits after one year.

Besides, it has also given huge bonuses to its workers but has also cautioned that a hard year stands in front of them.

The highest level of bonus is 15 percent of the annual salary which is equal to 8 weeks’ pay.
