Wipro to provide IT solutions for MorrisonsWipro Technologies has bagged a project worth million dollars from UK based food retailer Morrisons, having 375 stores and annual turnover of £13bn, to transform its IT systems and upgrading old technical infrastructure.

Gary Barr, CIO Morrisons, talking about the deal, said, "This is more than a systems replacement programme. It is a business change programme, enabled by the replacement of the existing IT systems, in order to support the continued and future growth of the business."

The project would be completed by a specialist division of Wipro Technologies, Wipro Retail. It is aimed to help Morrisons to achieve its growth targets by increasing its business efficiency. The project would be executed using an Oracle ERP platform to make planning, management and delivery reliable and result oriented. Wipro Retail is known for its efficient manufacturing, testing and business intelligence / data warehousing.

Morrisons' CFO, Richard Pennycook said, "Morrisons is making a major investment to give us the systems and processes to drive our business forward. Wipro Retail brings technology and retail business expertise to help us in this process."

Meanwhile, Bhanu Murthy B M, Senior Vice President, Retail, CPG Transportation & Services, Wipro Technologies told that his company his happy to work for Morrisons as its strategic partner and deliver visible results in days to come.

BMW introduces 3-Series Touring

Germany-based luxury car maker BMW recently took wraps off its fifth-generation 3 Series Touring, which is more spacious inside than ever before.

The all-new 2013 3 Series Touring sedan is longer than the predecessor by 97mm, and its height is 11mm more at 1429mm.

Its 50mm longer wheelbase than the previous Touring allows it to provide an extra 35 litres of storage with the rear seats up. With the seats folded down, the new vehicle promises 1500 litres of space in total.

The 2013 3 Series Touring will be available in a choice of three advanced, powerful, yet economic engines.
