Wipro combines advanced tech and analytics segments into single unit
Indian IT services provider Wipro has confirmed the organizational restructuring of its business segments and the elevation of Vice President Saurabh Govil as head of human resources.
Wipro announced that it has combined two of its verticals, viz. the advanced technologies and analytics, into a single unit.
The advanced technologies segment was created under the headship of CEO T. K. Kurien to focus on new areas of business for the company. Analytics is a key growth driver for the company, currently contributing nearly 7.2 per cent to its total revenue.
Pratik Kumar has been moved to Wipro Enterprises, the company's infrastructure engineering segment, as its CEO. Mr. Pratik had become president of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, which makes hydraulic cylinders, in 2010. To provide further strength to this segment, the company has acquired Australia-based Promax.
Vice President Saurabh Govil has been elevated to the post of head of human resources. Mr. Govil's elevation became necessary after Mr. Pratik's move to Wipro Infrastructure Engineering as CEO.
Under the company's planned demerger plan, its non-IT businesses spanning consumer care, furniture, lighting and medical equipment will be made a separate unlisted company called Wipro Enterprises Ltd. The core IT business will remain a public-listed entity called Wipro Ltd.
