Toyota may woo Americans with discounts as first lawsuit against it filed
Toyota Motor Corp. is expected to give the Americans big discounts after this month in order to boost its sales.
The news was given by an executive of the company on Friday, after it was seen that by giving unprecedented discounts, the sales of Toyota cars have risen sharply.
Meanwhile, the first ever lawsuit against the Japanese auto maker was filed in the US.
The court case was filed by an Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas who said that his office has filed a case of "fraud" against Toyota.
The case has accused the company of endangering the public by providing faulty cars.
Talking to Reuters, Senior Vice President of Toyota, Don Esmond said that it will continue to keep the dealers competitive by following aggressive discounting process.
He further said that the while the current figures have shown good results it would be sometime before the real thing comes up.
Toyota has lost 13.4 per cent in sales in the last two months. It is much behind GM and Ford in the US so far.
Toyota sales have surged by 40 per cent within 10 days after it gave huge discounts.
