Tata Motors Reveals Plans of Producing Nano's Hybrid Version

Tata Motors' Nano is already a celebrity, having been designated that world's cheapest car, and something which is not a bad deal at all for the price it comes at. But now the company wants to take its popularity a step further by making it go all green and environment friendly. Chairman of Tata Group and Tata Motors, India's biggest automobile manufacturer, Ratan Tata, recently revealed the company's plans of producing a hybrid version of the Nano, while on a visit to South Korea. Hybrid vehicles, which mostly use two or more different sources to power it, usually petrol or diesel and a battery pack, are much more environment friendly as compared to their counterparts which are powered by a single source. No other concrete details were provided by Mr. Tata on the production and release of the hybrid Nano, but he did say that "low-priced goods would drive sales faster than high-end ones in India", while predicting a price revolution that would continue to spread throughout the world in the wake of the recent financial crisis. The Nano first hit the Indian markets in July this year, and has been a definite attention grabber with its basic model priced at just Rs. 100,000 ($2,155; £1,306).
