Supreme Court instructs TVS Motor to stop fresh booking for TVS Flame
The Supreme Court on Friday directed TVS Motor, the third-largest motorcycle manufacturer, not to accept any fresh bookings — for the new TVS Flame bike — till January 29, 2008. However, the company can execute all the bookings till date.
The bench issued its direction on a petition filed by Bajaj Auto challenging the Madras High Court order of December 20 allowing TVS Motor to go ahead with the manufacture and sale of the vehicle.
A division bench headed by Justice H.S. Kapadia also directed the Madras High Court to take up the matter on 29 January and grant an appropriate remedy.
It may be recalled that the TVS Motor Company had launched the 125cc motorcycle brand TVS Flame last month. Following a patent infringement lawsuit by Bajaj Auto, both TVS Motors and Bajaj Auto have been locked in a legal tangle.
