Open Handset Alliance joined by Wipro Technologies
The Open Handset Alliance was recently joined by Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited, which will enable it to extend its device development and service Integration expertise around Android - an open mobile phone software stack.
Wipro may accept land at Rajarhat

Wipro Technologies has announced to accept the land offer in Rajarhat, West Bengal, apprising the government through formal channel. The proposed chunk of land is owned by Hidco in New Town and the body is in the process to allot 50 acres of land to the IT firm on concessional price.
The state IT department recently held a meeting with Wipro officials, who visited the site in Action Area III.
Wipro Q1 net up 12% at Rs 1,015 crore
Wipro, leading software services providers, has announced that it has posted 12% growth in its consolidated net profit which stood at Rs 1,015 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2009.
In a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the IT firm said that it has clocked a net profit of Rs 907crore in the June quarter of 2008.
Wipro Technologies to hire 8000 employees for its BPO business in next six months
Wipro Technologies, the third-largest IT services exporter from India, has announced that it would recruit 8,000 employees to its business process outsourcing (BPO) arm Wipro BPO by this financial year.
The BPO arm would begin recruitment drives in major cities and towns in the next two weeks. The company would recruit undergraduates and graduates from Tier II and III cities for its customer support and technical help desk segments.
