SpiceJet launches three-day-only ticket sale
Budget carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday announced the launch of a three-day-only sale of tickets for domestic flights with fares starting at just Re 1 (statutory taxes & fees extra).
The low cost tickets will be applicable only on direct flights of the airline's new domestic network for travel starting July 1. Bookings can be made from April 1 to April 3, 2014.
Depending on specific flight and travel date, SpiceJet is also offering discounted fares for Rs 799 and Rs 1,499, and at other discounted rates (statutory taxes & fees not inclusive). A Delhi-Mumbai ticket, which normally costs Rs 3,900, is now on sale for Rs 864 (all inclusive) for travel starting from the first week of July.
For immediate travel, the Delhi-Mumbai ticket usually sells for Rs 10,000 one way. Tickets can be booked through SpiceJet's official website, www .spicejet .com, or via travel portals and travel agents.
Announcing the discounted prices, SpiceJet CCO Kaneswaran Avili said, "We have been at the forefront in the Indian market in stimulating demand by offering discounted fares. These offers have served as a catalyst for travel for many potential flyers willing to plan and book early."
As the July to September period of the year is usually a lean period for airline industry, various airlines cut prices to attract travelers. SpiceJet's move is now expected to trigger fare war as rival airlines can also cut their ticket rates.
