Sensex Regains 11K; Up 247.11 Pts At 11,064.65On account of heavy buying action in bluechip stocks, Sensex has regained 11K mark in today’s session.

Heavy buying was seen across select metal, IT, auto and capital goods stocks.
 
BSE Midcap and Smallcap Index were up by 0.85% and 0.57% respectively.

Today, the Indian stock market belled the day on a positive note as against its last closure in which it lost 80.57 points, while the NSE Nifty fell by 35 points.

The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened after making a gain of 24.03 points at 10,841.57 on Thursday.

At 02:30 p.m., the 30-share index Sensex gained 247.11 points at 11,064.65 after hitting a high of 11,068.51 and a low of 10,758.97.

In the meantime, the broad based Nifty stood at 3,397.50, up 67.20 points, after touching a high of 3,402.35 and a low of 3,310.50.

The overall market breadth was positive as it witnessed 1,278 advancements as against 1,120 declinations.

The top gainers in the 30-share index included Wipro (7.99%), Tata Steel (6.37%), Reliance Energy (5.71%), Sterlite Industries (India) (4.58%), Maruti Suzuki India (4.47%), and Infosys Technologies (4.27%).

On the other hand, the major losers list comprised Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.78%), Bharti Airtel (1.18%), HDFC Bank (0.57%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.27%).

India`s benchmark wholesale price index (WPI), inflation rose marginally to stand at 0.26% for the week ended Apr. 11, 2009 as compared to 0.18% a week ago.

It stood at 7.95% during the corresponding week of the previous year.
