Piramal Healthcare will buy Canadian firm's assets
Leading Pharmaceutical Company of the country, Piramal Healthcare has announced that it is going to sign an agreement with BioSyntech of Canada. Both the companies have agreed on this deal and as per the current agreement, Piramal Healthcare is going to acquire BioSyntech's assets.
As per the sources the Indian Inc. will pay $3.9 million to the Canadian for this acquisition.
Fresh Investigations into Facebook
The users of Facebook in Canada are once again annoyed, as they got to know that the social networking web site is still sharing personal information with outsiders, like with companies that make Facebook applications such as games and quizzes.
Millions of Facebook users have deleted their accounts in recent weeks to protest its privacy policies. The major search words for Facebook on its search engine are 'delete Facebook' and 'deactivate Facebook account', according to Google Canada.
Novell launches Identity Manager 4 security solution
Novell has launched its Identity Manager 4 security solutions that cover identity and access on cloud along with physical platforms.
A press release from the company said, “The solution would ensure consistent identity, security and compliance policies for an organization’s entire IT ecosystem, including offering the same level of trust in the cloud that exists in the data center.”
The tools enable customers to reduce costs involved in managing the data from within as well as out side the company networks along with following increasing regulatory requirements.
Android May Upset iPhone
From the reports that were released on Monday it was seen the handsets that had Google’s Android operating system could upset Canadian icon BlackBerry as it is continuing to maintain its lead in the US smart phone market.
The reports also show that in the first quarterly sales the devices that used Google operating system had left Apple’s iPhone behind.
The report that was prepared by the NPD Group, the US consumer market research company showed that Google’s Android operating system had shaken the mobile phone market.
Research in Motion unveils new OS
Canada based, Research in Motion that produces the popular BlackBerry smartphones has unveiled its new BlackBerry 6.0 OS at the at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2010 conference on April 27.
The CEO of RIM Mike Lazaridis revealed the new OS in a a short preview film that showed various systems capabilities such as multitouch controls and improved social networking functions in its operating system. The new OS will also include the Webkit browser which is already used by RIM’s competitors in iPhone and Android devices.
Loss of about USD 1.7 Billion Incurred by Airlines Due to Volcano Crisis
It was reported on Tuesday that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that the volcano ash cloud disaster has cost the airline over USD 1.7 billion.
The disaster prices hit USD 400 million per day during April 17-19, when disruptions were the greatest. At the worst, the crisis impacted 29% of global aviation and affected 1.2 million passengers a day.
Governments have been advised by IATA to scrutinize ways to recompense airlines for lost profits.
