Patel Launches First Aerospace SEZ in India
The Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today inaugurated country's first ever aerospace Special Economic Zone and said that it is now time for the country to show its strength in its aerospace engineering. India has already scaled new heights in the fields of IT and engineering sectors by emerging as global leader across these segments.
The minister congratulated aerospace and engineering major QUEST Global for coming up with such a splendid SEZ for developing and manufacturing precision engineering products. Patel also assured that the Mangalore airport would be upgraded in few months.
Mr. Patel said, "Had India not notched up a faster growth in aviation sector and acquired a large number of aircraft, its capability in aviation engineering would not have been noticed."
The first Special Economic, spread in 300 acre acres is located at Hattargi, 37 km from Belgaum and developed with an investment of Rs 150 crore. Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa said that the SEZ would be a milestone for creating employment opportunities in the state.
