Nano’s competitor Geely to hit the market in 2012

IG-Intelligent Geely from the Chinese automaker which recently acquired Volvo is claimed to be bigger, faster, cheaper and more economical than the Tata Nano.

The IG is a 4 seater car however with limited rear space unlike Nano which is capable of accommodating four adults in comfort. Geely intends to increase its market presence and is expected to enter the Indian market before the scheduled launch of the car in 2012.

“The concept has had a very positive reaction, and with the car not launching until 2012 there is time for us to expand our network before then,” indicated a company spokesperson.

The car will be powered by a 988cc petrol engine, developing 70bhp and 69lb ft with a five-speed CVT gearbox. The IG will be priced between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.35 lakh

The company is also working on the electric model schedules to be launched in 2014 will run 150kms on a single charge. It will feature Lithium ion batteries and 80 bhp motor and will also have solar panel on its roof, bonnet and dash.

Germany-based luxury car maker BMW recently took wraps off its fifth-generation 3 Series Touring, which is more spacious inside than ever before.

The all-new 2013 3 Series Touring sedan is longer than the predecessor by 97mm, and its height is 11mm more at 1429mm.

Its 50mm longer wheelbase than the previous Touring allows it to provide an extra 35 litres of storage with the rear seats up. With the seats folded down, the new vehicle promises 1500 litres of space in total.

The 2013 3 Series Touring will be available in a choice of three advanced, powerful, yet economic engines.

With Microsoft having recently made a Bing-related announcement, which underscored the company's plans to roll out an updated edition of its three-year-old Bing search engine, analysts are of the opinion that the planned boost to Bing's social networking features will apparently give a more competitive edge to Microsoft's search war with Internet search giant Google.
