Mukesh Ambani India's richest person with fortune of Rs 1.18 lakh crore

Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, once gain grabbed the top spot on the list of richest Indians.

The latest Forbes' annual list of billionaires, released on Monday, has 55 Indian billionaires, with Mukesh Ambani at the top with an estimated worth of Rs. 1.18 lakh crore ($21.5 billion).

The Forbes' 2013 list of the world's richest people, which includes 1,426 billionaires, said "Mukesh Ambani's fortune dropped $1 billion (Rs. 5,490 crore) though he remains India's richest person and his Reliance Industries remains (the) country's most valuable company."

Mr. Ambani topped the list among India's richest people, holding on to the position as owner of the world's most expensive home. Mr. Ambani's $1.8-billion structure has 27 floors, nine elevators, six floors for parking as well as three helipads.

Among the Indians, Mukesh Ambani is followed by Lakshmi Mittal, Azim Premji, Dilip Shanghvi and Shashi & Ravi Ruia.

Among the world's richest people, Mr. Ambani emerged at 22nd position.

Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim topped for the fourth straight year with an estimated fortune of $73 billion. Microsoft chairman Bill Gates grabbed the second spot with a fortune of $67 billion.

Indian healthcare major, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise has said that its net profit has risen 27.30 per cent to Rs. 75.52 crore during the fourth quarter of the financial year till March, 2013.

The company recorded the impressive growth due to strong performance for in the healthcare services and pharmacy segments of the company. The company had recorded a net profit of Rs. 59.32 crore for during the same quarter of the previous financial year, the company said in a statement.
