Indian car giant Maruti Suzuki reported an increase of 84 percent in car sales for the month November as compared with the same period of 2008.

Maruti Suzuki sold 87,807 cars in November, up from 47,704 vehicles in November last year, when economic downturn hit company’s sales hard.

Speaking on the results, Maruti Suzuki said, “November 2008 was an exceptionally low sales month due to impact of economic slowdown.”

Sales grew 17.1 per cent from November 2007, when the car giant sold 65216 vehicles.

Number of total vehicles sold during April to November period stood at 646,139.
