L&T pockets Rs 5,000 crore orders in construction vertical

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has informed that the company has bagged Rs 5,000 crore contracts in its building and factories segment.

According to the sources, the proposed orders were bagged in the second quarter of 2008-09 to build a slew of institutional, commercial, residential and factory buildings.

The contracts have been awarded by major players around the country including NESCO, Godrej Properties, PBEL Property Development, Om Prakash Jindal Grahim Jan Kalyan Sansthan and Mahi Cement.

The source also revealed that these orders will enhance a growth trend that earlier saw the conglomerate securing major design-&-build contracts in the airports, IT Parks and commercial space.

L&T has been participated in virtually all modern airports in India including those at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.

In such an unpredictable market session, the stock of Larsen & Toubro settled well at Rs 2,550, up 0.75 per cent on National Stock Exchange. The total volume of shares traded were 1,249,770 at the NSE.
