Jindal Saw Wins Order Worth Rs 200 Cr From NDWPCL
Pipes maker, Jindal Saw has received a contract worth Rs. 200 crore
from NDWPCL, to develop a 16 MW waste-based power plant in New Delhi.
NDWPCL is a joint ventuire between the Delhi Government and IL&FS.
Indresh Batra, JUI Vice Chairman and Managing Director stated, “The
plant, to be the largest of it kind, will be set up by the company's
subsidiary, Jindal Urban Infrastructure Ltd (JUI), and will mark our
foray in the waste-management space.”
Jindal Saw has outbid 30 international and domestic firms such as
Gammon Infrastructure, Tata Power and GMR to bag this agreement.
The company’s subsidiary, Jindal Urban Infrastructure Ltd (JUI) will
set up the new plant, which is likely to produce 16 megawatts of power.
The project will start in April 2008 and will be completed by February
2010.
The plant would run on about 6,000-8,000 tons of waste, which is
produced in Delhi on a daily basis. The raw material would be supplied
to the company by New Delhi Municipal Corp and Municipal Corp of Delhi.
Recently, the company has also received an order from Cairn Energy
worth USD 200 million for supplying line pipes, tracer tube, insulation
and bends for latter's Barmer Salaya Pipe Line (BSPL) project..
The company’s shares marked their closure at Rs 898, up 3% on Monday on NSE. The total number of shares traded was 115,133.
