Infosys Bags Multi Million Deal From AstraZeneca

Infosys Technologies, India’s second major software exporter has announced that it has been awarded a five year, multi-million dollar worldwide sourcing deal by AstraZeneca.

Headquartered in London, AstraZeneca is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies with sales of USD 29.55 billion.
 
Under the deal, Infosys will offer end-to-end application maintenance services to AstraZeneca’s worldwide operations, which include manufacturing, supply chain, finance, human resources and other corporate functions.

According to sources, the pact is a part of AstraZeneca`s transformation initiative to speed up innovation and bring products to market faster.  
 
The said agreement, according to AstraZeneca would facilitate improve its operational efficiency significantly.  
 
While commenting on the deal, Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Infosys chief executive officer stated, “Pharmaceutical companies are launching transformation initiatives to improve R&D productivity, focusing on their core competencies. AstraZeneca is leading this trend, and this programme will help us support its business growth and operational excellence goals. This is another significant step in our long standing partnership with AstraZeneca.”
 
Shares of the company declined Rs 6.3, or 0.57%, to settle at Rs 1,101 (BSE). The total volume of shares traded was 370,241 at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

BMW introduces 3-Series Touring

Germany-based luxury car maker BMW recently took wraps off its fifth-generation 3 Series Touring, which is more spacious inside than ever before.

The all-new 2013 3 Series Touring sedan is longer than the predecessor by 97mm, and its height is 11mm more at 1429mm.

Its 50mm longer wheelbase than the previous Touring allows it to provide an extra 35 litres of storage with the rear seats up. With the seats folded down, the new vehicle promises 1500 litres of space in total.

The 2013 3 Series Touring will be available in a choice of three advanced, powerful, yet economic engines.
