Fortis, International Oncology tie knot for fighting “CANCER” in IndiaFortis Healthcare, India's fastest growing healthcare chain has entered into partnership with International Oncology, a US-based company formed by a group of Indian doctors working overseas.

Under the arrangement, a team of about 12 doctors from International Oncology would give their services regarding cancer care treatment, including radiation therapy, medical oncology, surgical oncology and bone marrow transplant at Fortis' Noida hospital.

In addition, other doctors from the UK and other countries are expected to join the alliance soon.

Both partners stated in a release that, based on the experience and outcome of the alliance, they would also expand their collaboration to other hospitals of Fortis.

Apart from latest development, International Oncology is also looking to set up independent hospitals in India, particularly at tourist destinations such as Jaipur and Delhi to attract foreigners. The company plans to spend around $50 million in India over the next five years.

Latest study reports revealed that there are about 30 lakh cancer patients in the country and it is one of the fasting growing classes of diseases along with lifestyle related diseases.
