Crisis at Kingfisher Airlines worsens
The crisis at Kingfisher Airlines has apparently taken a turn for the worse, with the disruption of the services of the airline continuing for the fourth day in a row on Thursday - resulting in either the cancellation or the clubbing of as many as 30 flights.
The disruption of Kingfisher's services on Thursday largely resulted from the fact that nearly 30 pilots and cabin-crew members continued to avail their sick leave, thus not reporting for their duties.
According to reports in two separate newspapers, unnamed sources have revealed that there are troubles galore at the cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines --- what with nearly 130 pilots having departed over the last few weeks, and some firms that had lent aircraft to the airline planning to take them back!
According to the information shared by sources `in the know', Kingfisher's plans to mark a departure from the low-cost segment has seemingly prompted a "fair number" of pilots to quit the airline, in the past few months, and seek jobs in other low-cost carriers. To make matters worse, it has been three months since some of the Kingfisher pilots have been paid their salaries!
In addition, the situation has further been worsened by the fact that the pilots have been served unwarranted income tax notices because, as per the sources, Kingfisher has "not deposited tax due from pilots in the government's coffers for three years."
