CBI arrests yet another person in Satyam fraud case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), one of the top investigating agencies in the Satyam fraud case, has arrested Prabhakar Gupta, the global head of internal audit of the beleaguered firm. The move has increased the tally of arrested persons in the Satyam fraud case to 10 and more persons are expected to be nabbed in coming days, said highly placed sources concerned with the investigation.
CBI produced Gupta in the court at Nampally where the judge accepted agency’s plea for his judicial custody till November 26. Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju, his brother and former Managing Director B Rama Raju, Srinivas Vadlamani, Goplakrishna and Srinivas Talluri are already behind bars in connection with forging accounts of the technology major for their vested interests.
CBI has already filed charge sheet and preparing for a supplementary charge-sheet by the end of this month. The State government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up special fast track court to be headed by an additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate for the speedy trial of the case following the recommendation by CBI.
