CAT exam rescheduled due to network problems
Server crashes has resulted in the postponing of the Common Admission Test (CAT) exam, which was supposed to be held online.
According to the reports, the CAT exam has been put off at many centres in Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Pune and Bhopal, due to the network problems which arose because of the malfunctioning of the servers.
On this issue, IIM authorities have denied the reports that online exam servers got crashed. In a report to HRD ministry, they have ensured that the exam was not cancelled but has been rescheduled at some centers. They said that the signing up of some students from multiple centers was the real cause of the problem.
It was expected that more than 2.4 lakh candidates were appearing in the CAT exam, which was first time going online.
The test has been scheduled between November 28 and December 7, and will be conducted at 105 centers in 32 cities all over the country.
Because of the experimental state of the test, the authorities have advised students to conduct the requisite checks from their end.
In the new format, the pattern of the exams of the questions and distribution of subjects will remain unchanged.
Prometric, which is the American firm, is providing detailed information for the locations for of the CAT test through their site. The company has also released an online guide for students on the website, which gives a detailed tutorial into a range of things from using the mouse to navigating through the test paper and how to mark or unmark questions for review.
