Aurobindo Pharma gets USFDA nod for Ceftiofur Sodium
Aurobindo Pharma Limited, one of the largest API manufacturers in Asia, has notified that its US-based joint venture firm has secured approval from the drug regulator for its anti-bacterial veterinary drug.
The company stated in a release that Cephazone Pharma, 50:50 joint venture between the company and US-based Medphamex, has received approval for its original Abbreviated New Animal Drug Application (ANADA) for Cefitofur Sodium Sterlite Powder from the US Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicines.
The drug, ceftiofur sodium sterile powder, is the generic version of Pfizer's Naxcel and is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections in animals including dogs, swine, horses and cattle.
The scrip of the company closed on Friday at Rs 388, up 5% compared to its previous close of Rs 369.
