Aurobindo Pharma gets nod for two drugs in South Africa

Aurobindo Pharma, a leading Hyderabad based drug firm, has secured nod from the South African regulator to manufacture and market two drugs in that country.

The company received the permission from South African (SA) Medicines Control Council (MCC) for Auro Ampicillin injection in the strength of 500 mg and 1,000 mg and Auropidone tablets, in 0.5 mg strength.

Auro Ampicillin Injection is an antibiotic, which is used to treat bacterial infections while Auropidone tablets are used in treatment of Central Nervous System (CNS) related disorders.

It should be noted that the Medicines Control Council (MCC) is a statutory body that was established to oversee the regulation of medicines in South Africa.

With the latest approval, Aurobindo now has a total of 37 products approved by the MCC.
