Aurobindo Pharma gets approval for Terbinafine

Hyderabad based Aurobindo Pharma Limited has notified that Health Canada -- a department of the Canadian government has given sanction to company’s abbreviated new drug submission Terbinafine tablets.

The company has been allowed to market the said tablets in the strengths of 125 mg and 250 mg.

According to sources, the Terbinafine is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by certain types of fungus. The drug is also recommended for skin and nail infections.

Terbinafine (Terbinafine hydrochloride) is the generic equivalent of Novartis Pharmaceutical Canada Inc’s Lamisil tablets.

The sources further disclosed that the proposed approval is the fifth approval for Aurobindo from Health Canada.

Health Canada is the federal department who guide Canadians that how to maintain and improve their health.

Recently, Aurobindo Pharma has got approval to make and sell fixed dosed combination Abacavir Sulfate/ Lamivudine Tablets in the strengths of 60/30 mg from US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA).

Scrip of Aurobindo Pharma ended in green at Rs 155, up 3.01 percent on National Stock Exchange (NSE).The total volume of shares traded was 219,474 at the NSE.
