Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has got provisionary approval to develop and market the Sumatriptan Succinate Tablets in dosage of 25mg, 50mg and 100mg. The company got approval from the US Food & Drug Administration. This is the 63rd ANDA approval from the USFDA of the Pharmaceutical major. These tablets will be tantamount to the GlaxoSmithKlines Imitrex® Tablets, and will be helpful for the treatment of acute migraine headaches. Sumatriptan Succinate tablets have registered a net sale figure of USD 950 million in the United States for the past year. Aurobindo Pharma has registered a net profit of Rs 229 crores for the year ended March 2007 and Rs 55 Crores quarter ended December 2007. The stock was marginally up in early trades on Friday.
