Arch Pharmalabs setup four manufacturing facility; plans overseas acquisitions

The company contract bulk drug manufacturer, Arch Pharmalabs has established four manufacturing plants at Gurgaon at an investment of Rs 50 crore to manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) targeted at the regulated US and European markets.

Malvinder Mohan Singh, CEO & MD, Ranbaxy has inaugurated the facility named as ‘Project Paschim’.

The facility has four manufacturing plants, effluent treatment facilities and a pilot plant for contract manufacturing. The facility will initially manufacture APIs in the cardiovascular, immuno-suppressant, anti-retrovirals (HIV) and anti-malarial space.

The site is expected to face inspection by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the first half of 2008. The facility is anticipated to contribute close to Rs 250 crore to the topline of Arch Pharmalabs.

Arch Pharmalabs Ltd. is a Mumbai based company with leadership in a number of API and Intermediates. The company recently, acquired two companies in Hyderabad and currently has six manufacturing locations.

The company is also looking to acquire companies involved in production of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in Europe. The company is planning to buy medium sized firms with a topline of USD 100 million.

The API manufacturer has set a target to become Rs 10 billion firm by the year 2010.

As per the information available, as many as 97 companies are going to be given notice by the government asking them as to why they have failed in starting work in the captive mines provided to them.
