All-in-One PC segment attracts manufacturers

Major computer manufactures are entering the new all-in-one PC segment in the market and are positioning the product as the combination of Television and Computer.

Leading manufacturers like Dell, Acer and Lenovo are looking to enter the segment soon. They are trying to change the concept of the product and present them as a lifestyle products offering features of both a TV and a computer.

The All-in-one PC is a desktop computer that comes with a CPU and monitor. Experts say that the desktop market does not offer anything new presently and the manufacturers should refresh the new all-in-one PCs.

Experts say that the all-in-one PCs have created a lot of buzz in the market and it has the potential to revive the sales in the PC market. The product offers the advantages of small form factors without the concerns related to battery or portability.

Dell India executive director and general manager (consumer) Mahesh Bhalla said, "The desktop PC market, which became very boring, is suddenly getting a lot of fizz with the roll out of all-in-one PCs, The way the segment is growing, all-in-one PCs can indeed lead a revival in desktop PC sales."

A market intelligence company, IDC has estimated that by 2013 small form factors could makeup to 38% of the overall desktop market.

Dell is offering a range of all-in-one PCs in Indian market and it expects the product to offer similar premium to PCs in the country. Lonovo has also expanded its offering in the segment in the country priced between Rs 22,000 to Rs 60,000.

Both the manufacturers are positioning the product as the second TV at home due to large screens of the products in the segment. Acer India is also working on clearing misconception about the product and is optimistic about its business in the country.
