Air fares to rise exponentially but fare declaration a must

The Airlines have been demanding a steep hike in the air fares which has been approved by the aviation ministry. The air traffic has seen a growth of 18.3% in the last 8-9 months and is expected to grow.

The airlines have got the price hike but they will not have their free run in hiking the prices. It is now mandatory for the airline websites to have the route wise information about the fares for the different fare brackets. This will increase the transparency for the travelers and help them plan their travel in a more economical manner.

The websites will have to give information of fare at the beginning of each month for the advance booking of tickets in 21, 14 and 7 days.

However, travel agents are pretty sure that booking the tickets before 24-48 hours will drill a big hole in the pocket of their customers. The best deals would be availed by people booking their tickets well I n advance of their travel.

The research data however indicates the opposite. It says that 75 percent of passengers book their tickets in the last week.

The rules will be followed by all members of Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) which include Air India, GoAir, IndiGo, Jet Airways, JetLite, Kingfisher Airlines, Paramount Airways and SpiceJet.
